The Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic that chronicles the story of Prince Rama. In epic Ramayana, Lanka plays an important role in shaping the story.There are So many Ramayana sites that belong to the Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka . We Have added some important Sites for this itinerary that you can visit.
Day 01
Munishwaram and Manavari Temple
Airport Pickup and Assistance at the Colombo Airport. Head north to Anuradapura via Chilaw. Visit Munishwaram temple. It is believed that Munishwaram predates the Ramayana and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was located here. Munishwaram means the first temple for Shiva (Munnu + Easwaran). After visit Manavari temple which is is the first place where Lord Rama installed and prayed the Siva lingam. After transfer to the first capital of Sri Lanka Anuradhapura.
Day 02
Ram setu Bridge
After breakfast transfer to Jaffna via Mannar. Ram Setu bridge was constructed by Lord Rama using his Vanara (monkey) army. Surprisingly, this sand dune path is still visible from an aerial view even today.
Day 03
Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil
The presiding deity is Lord Muruga in the form of the holy Vel. Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil is one of the most significant Hindu temples in the Jaffna.
Day 04
Thiru Koneshwaram
Thiru Koneswaram temple is one of the five “Pancha Ishwarams” (abodes of Shiva) which has been built to worship Lord Shiva- the supreme God of Hinduism.Shankari Temple, in Sri Lanka, is one of the 18 Devi Temples (Ashta Dasha Shakti Peethas).
Day 05
Dunuwila
Dunuwilla is the place from where Lord Rama fired the brahmaastharam at King Ravana, which eventually killed him.After Proceed to Kandy. Visit Temple of tooth in Kandy.
Day 06
Hanuman temple & Divurumpola
It is believed hanuman was searching for Sita from across these hills of Ramboda. After visit Divurumpola It is believed that Divurumpola temple is the place where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal Agni Pariksha or “Agni” test in order to prove her chastity to God Rama after being rescued by him where she came unscathed and proved her innocence and purity.
Day 07
Seetha amman & Ashok vatika
Visit only Hindu Temple which dedicated to Princess Sita in Sri Lanka. Visit Ashok Vatika ( Hakkagala Botanical garden) the exotic pleasure garden where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita. Then Proceed to Kataragama.
Day 08
Anjaneyar & Kelaniya
Visit first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka and also the only Panchamuga (five faced) Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka. Its the only temple in the world to have a chariot for Ajanyear. After King Ravana’s death, Vibeeshana was coroneted as King of Lanka by Lakshmana at Kelaniya. There are murals enshrined outside the Buddhist temple depicting the crowning of Vibeeshana.
Day 09
Colombo city
After breakfast do Colombo city tour and Shopping ( If time permits). After transfer back to airport for departure.
